Market updates
Who gets Trevy's market update emails, when they go, what's in them, and how to switch them off.
Updated October 20, 2026
A market update is a short briefing from the contact's agent on the housing market where the contact lives or is looking: what's for sale, how fast homes are selling and at what price, and mortgage rates.
Who gets them
Any contact Trevy emails, buying or not, except agents, lenders and vendors.
Market updates also stand in for emails that aren't right for someone. Sellers and past clients get a market update in place of a listing alert or a home-value email, and so do renters and contacts Trevy can't place yet, once they've been asked what they're looking for. That happens only when the contact has a city on their Follow Up Boss record; otherwise the step is skipped. See How Trevy tells buyers from sellers.
When they go
In the default flows: New Lead on days 3 and 10, Gone Cold on day 0 and Re-engaged on day 7.
When the contact has no city on their record, the New Lead day 3 and Re-engaged market updates go out as a check-in instead, and the New Lead day 10 update is skipped. The Gone Cold update goes out either way.
What's in the email
The figures are the same ones as the contact's market report, for the same place: the ZIP they've explored on their report or keep looking at homes in, when it has figures, else their ZIP on their FUB record, or their city and state when there's no ZIP. Trevy writes the figures into the email itself. Depending on what the month's figures include, they cover:
- How many homes were for sale on a typical day, and how that compares with the month before and a year ago
- New listings that month, and how many homes were under contract
- The median days on market, against a year ago
- The share of listings with a price cut
- The median list price and price per square foot, and whether it's up or down
- The current 30-year fixed mortgage rate
When there were too few homes for sale in a ZIP for steady figures, the email says so and uses the figures for the wider area.
Around the figures, the agent writes a one-sentence opening that names the place and a closing question that fits what the contact is after, such as "Want to talk about timing?" for a buyer or "Want me to run the numbers on what yours would sell for?" for a seller. The key numbers are in bold, in a few short paragraphs, so it reads quickly on a phone. Once your team has a page on Your page, the email also links to the full report for that place: on the agent's own page, or on the team's when the agent has none.
When Trevy has no figures for the contact's area, the email is two sentences: the agent offers to send market updates and asks which area to watch.
Like every Trevy email, it comes from the contact's assigned agent through FUB, and Trevy writes the subject line.
Market updates and market reports
A market update is a written email. The monthly market report is different: a short email with a link to a live report page for the contact's area. A contact can get both.
What you can change
- Market updates on the Emails page, under Follow-up emails, switches market updates off and on. The same switch covers home-value emails. With it off, each market update is passed over and the next email keeps its day.
- How Trevy sounds on Your page changes how the agent's words sound: Warm, Professional or Casual.
- The area comes from the contact's address in FUB unless they've shown interest in another ZIP. Correct the address there and later updates follow it.
